Non-Profit Logo Redesign

For this project students choose a local non-profit organization and redesign their logo.  Students researched the organization, answering questions such as: What services does the organization provide?  What population do they serve?  What short term and long term goals are they committed to?  These questions help to guide the student to appropriate imagery and design principle to use for the logo.

Low-Poly Portrait

Illustration Portrait or Landscape
Students are asked to research different styles of illustration that artists employ. Using a style that is similar, or their own specific style, students will illustrate a landscape or portrait.  We will investigate implementing pattern and textures in to the design and creating depth through value.  Stencil style illustration  (similar to Sheppard Fairey's work) will be taught, but students may use other techniques and styles.

Alternate REality
For thist project, students must think of a way to show a "glimpse" of an alternate reality with the use of a "framing" device. This device allows for a window in to a reality very different from the original photograph used for the background. Skills such as green screen photography, illustration, photo manipulation, and blending drawn images with photographs are used.

Symbolic Portrait Design

This project focuses on the use of symbols to create more meaning in a portrait design.  The image may represent a specific person, an aspect of society or an emotional state.

Minimalist Poster Design
For thist project, students must think of a way to show a "glimpse" of an alternate reality with the use of a "framing" device. This device allows for a window in to a reality very different from the original photograph used for the background. Skills such as green screen photography, illustration, photo manipulation, and blending drawn images with photographs are used.
Cinemagraphic or Stop-Motion animation
Two special effect mixtures of video and still frame photographs. A stop motion animation blends still frame photographs together to create a video. The process allows you to create effects that are not possible for normal video. A cinemagraph is a video that has been frozen in time except in one small area. This gives the viewer the effect of a still frame photo with some small movement.
